Niklas Paschburg’s instruments are piano and modern electronic music technology – they enable him to speak through various musical traditions and languages. His style of music could be called a modern classical music. It is ambient musical picture rich in colourful shades and with a reference to classical music shapes. Paschbur is keen on improvisation, close to jazz moods, comfortably integrating pop and indie as well, thus becoming available to broad audiences.
Paschburg’s debut album “Oceanic” was released in 2018 and critics called it one of the most beautiful records of the year, while his name was placed in one row with internationally recognised composers as Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds and Max Richter, who have been Niklas’ inspiration. The young composer’s self-awareness was strengthened also by intensive touring (more than 100 concerts played in two years) and creative experiments at a record studio in Berlin. On 7 February 2020, Niklas released his second album “Svalbard” that tells the story of isolation and untamed nature of Norwegian Svalbard islands, which keeps changing along with the seasons, especially the dark and cold winter of 2018/2019. “Svalbard” is offering its audiences a darker palette, while still keeping breathtaking flow of music.
As a part of “Svalbard” album tour, on 13 October Niklas Paschburg will perform in Riga on stage of culture venue. Tickets from 24 August will be available in box offices of Biļešu Paradīze.
The concert is organized in collaboration with the international jazz festival Jazzkaar taking place in Tallinn. This is the Baltic’s biggest jazz festival that is taking place since 1990. This year Jazzkaar 2020 was postponed to autumn and will happen from 9 till 15 October.
